Group #28: Let's get physical! (Free!)

This introductory group on physical activity and movement helps students understand the connection between physical activity and health and academic success, reflect on current activity levels, and explore barriers and supports to participation.

Expected Outcomes

Students will understand how physical activity affects academic performance, mood, stress, and overall wellbeing, awareness of their current movement patterns and barriers, recognition of how college environment affects physical activity, knowledge of benefits beyond physical health (cognitive, emotional, social), and motivation to increase movement in sustainable ways.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, students will be able to:

  • Understand how physical activity affects brain function, learning, and memory
  • Identify the connection between movement and mood, stress, and sleep
  • Assess their current activity levels and identify opportunities
  • Recognize barriers and supports to physical activity on campus
  • Connect movement to their academic goals and overall success
